When All is Grey and Cold

The essence of a whisper
Is not absence of strength
It condenses on your soul
And lets you live again.

Rainbows come quietly

Roundabout

The rusty paint is overlooked,
The creak becomes a melody,
Hands draw fast to metal shafts,
The world stands still, expectantly -

A nod of head, a tightened grip
And now the motion starts,
The children, beaming, set their hearts
On this whirling, short-lived glee.

Round and
Round
Their focus
Gone
A colourful
Catastrophe
For gravity
Grips viciously
Frail bodies
To cold ground
And all
These souls
Can hope to save
Is comfort in this
Blind motion.

It never stops
This spinning
Round
I've shut my eyes
And prayed
But speed is felt
Propels my heart
It spins me to my grave.

I can't get off
This childish game
It spins me
On and
On
It's getting
Faster
Everday
I fear
That I
Can't

Breathe

Triste

To and fro,
Point and flex,
Back and forth,
Life's too complex.

Focus

It confuses me when people talk about how "quickly time flies" or how "it all just happens too fast".
Why?

Because, in the greater scheme of things, time is relative and, no matter how much slower it were to trod along, people would still feel cheated out of it. Try to sit a person down and tell them to watch a minute go by...it'll seem to take ages yet, when their mind is elsewhere, it'll steal their lives away more slyly than a Joburg pick-pocket.

And, after looking at this photo for an extended period of time, it hit me harder than the Gautrain: it's all about focus. See, I believe the vast majority of the population will set their sights on the immediate in life - on what lies right in front of them. And this is exactly why time seems to whip by them so merrily. What we really need to do is focus on the distance - on the horizon of greater understanding where we might meet some light and insight on the ways of our peculiar universe.

Maybe then we'll see that we're going about things at just the right speed...

I used to be a Blogger

I used to be a blogger
Until I forgot my name.
I need one for every website
Me, or the new world to blame?
